2012 School Garden Grants Available!

Apply by February 13th!

Please pass this information on to any of your school personnel who may be interested in this project. It is open to all grade levels.

The North Dakota Farmers Market and Grower’s Association is pleased to announce that grant funds are available to begin an edible school garden, orchard and/or greenhouse project through the Green and Growing Initiative. The project funds may only be used to grow or prepare spaces to grow specialty crops. Please see the links above for more information. Grants up to $500 will be available on a competitive basis. Any school who has previously received a school garden grant from the Green and Growing Grant program will not be eligible. The deadline for this grant is February 13, 2012! This is a great opportunity to receive funding; we are actively seeking applicants.

Some of the goals that we hope schools will adopt include:

·         Connecting people to plants and the planet

·         Increased community engagement

·         Service learning opportunities

·         Better nutritional habits

·         Student marketing opportunities

·         Food safety curriculum

·         Growing one’s own food

Deadline: Grant applications must be received by February 13, 2012.

A decision on the grant requests are expected to be made by February 20, 2012.
