In the spring
of 2011, the North Dakota Farmers Market and Growers Association (NDFMGA)
offered its member markets a $500 grant in exchange for collecting information
to aid the Association and its members. The information collected as a result
of this grant varied from customer counts and produce prices to reports on
promotional events.
The following
report is a brief compilation of some of the relevant information collected
through this grant.
Keep in mind
that 2011 was a particularly difficult year for the markets. Much of the state
saw extensive flooding in the spring and early summer. This affected the
availability of produce, market start dates, and even how many vendors had
produce to sell during the summer of 2011.
